Music Academy of the West
Marjorie Bruan Library Restoration

Project Description: The challenge was to restore, refine, and enhance this historic library while equipping it with state-of-the-art audio, video, lighting, air-conditioning, and refreshment services. This was accomplished in a manner that allowed easy conversion between the various uses as a traditional library, lecture room, conference/board room, small recital hall, reception/social area, and classroom. The restoration and enhancement of the library was completed in an unobtrusive way that did not detract from it’s historical ambiance.

Examples: air-conditioning supply incorporated into an enhanced ceiling crown molding around the perimeter of the room so as to be almost invisible; concealed electric video screen incorporated with a decorative projection of the crown molding above the fireplace; concealment behind blind paneling of all audio-visual equipment, wet bar, video projector; sophisticated programmable light control of historical wall sconces, new chandeliers, and concealed aperture recessed ceiling lights.
