Architects / B3 Architects Named Local Architects for Granada
Theatre Restoration
Santa Barbara,
CA - The Santa Barbara Center for the Performing Arts recently
acquired the 1,600-seat, historic Granada Theatre originally
built in 1924. The new owners have big plans for the project.
"It will be the center for performing arts in the city,"
said Harriet Miller, president of the Santa Barbara Center
for the Performing Arts and former mayor of Santa Barbara.
To restore the
theatre's visual prestige, the center is working with local
and national architects. Steve Metsch AIA, a Principal of
Phillips Metsch Sweeney Moore Architects, and Barry Berkus,
Principal of B3 Architects, are working on the project, while
New York-based theatre design firm Sachs Morgan Studio is
also involved.
The acquisition
and restoration of the theatre has an overall price tag of
about $20 million.
